DAYAK PEOPLE
Indonesien

The native people of the island Borneo are called Dayak. It’s a loose term for over 200 different indigenous groups. Some of them still live the life of hunters and gatherers in the jungles of Borneo, others lead a modern life in the cities. The artisans we work with live in Gohong, a small village in the southern province Central Kalimantan. The village is especially known for its beautiful basket work. Usually, the families partner up in groups to practice their handicraft. Our partner, Suphi and Yophi, belong to such a group. Together with the rest of the family, mother and daughter are living in Gohong.
